King Malakiyah

Recording artist King Malakiyah was born Garfield O’Neil  

Blake in the small district of Enfield in East St. Mary, Jamaica.  

He entered the world on October 16,  the tenth child  

of Dorothy and Malachi Blake, the two people who have  

been most instrumental – no pun intended – in his musical  

pursuits.  

Being a member of a large family (8 brothers and 4 sisters)  

music became his escape early on. He fell in love with the  

art-form at the tender age of ten. That said, his career as an  

artist really began when he entered the popular local T.V  

talent show Digicel Rising Stars. Although his time on the  

program was short-lived it gave him the right amount of 

publicity needed to truly embark on his musical career. 

Inspired by Dennis Brown, Niney the Observer, Luciano, Bob 

Marley, Michael Jackson, and Marcia Griffith, Malakiyah has  

matured into a captivating vocalist who specializes in lovers 

rock and roots reggae music. He is a master of melody, and is  

often praised for his songwriting and lyrical prowess. His  

songs are usually centered on social issues and matters  

surrounding intimate relationships, this includes his own.

King Malakiyah’s dream is to create and perform music on the highest level. One of his burning  desires is to use his musical abilities to positively impact the world. He believes that this can be  achieved by spreading uplifting messages, through his songs, giving hope to nations consumed with  negativity.
